Youth Entrepreneurs

Our virtual and community based entrepreneur education program enrolls young people in start-up teams composed of youth with shared self-employment goals. The start-up teams provide mutual support to overcome barriers to employment and education.

Upward Vision (UVI) student programs engage youth in entrepreneur training activities that lead to improved educational and employment outcomes. Our instructor-led 4 week training program can be integrated into high schools to improve math and reading test scores while increasing high school graduation rates.

UVI entrepreneurial start up groups use Team Based Learning (TBL) to overcome barriers to employment while at the same time providing support groups that allow youth to face educational challenges as a team. TBL has been proven by academic research to promote student engagement and satisfaction, better prepare students for professional world challenges, enhance collaborative work and problem-solving skills, and build both autonomy and interdependence.

The student entrepreneur start-up teams formed during the 4-week group training session serve as support groups that can continue indefinitely. The bonding that takes place between participants and mentors during the training phase will grow stronger as the team enters the implementation phase of their individual and group self-employment plans. A least one UVI staff member, mentor, or trained volunteer will be available as needed to each team for online discussions, support, and crisis intervention.

Our Director of Training has personally prepared 650 students for entrance into leading U.S. universities using her proprietary virtual entrepreneur education system.

Our CEO is a licensed high school math teacher and an experienced IT consultant, as well as a non-profit leader skilled at motivating and training young people, mentors, and volunteers.
